I've been working at Urban Outfitters since January 2006, where I've gained experience working in the Women's department primarily, and since June 2008, I've been working as the Merchandising Team Leader. Here, I have gotten the chance to work in all of the departments, including Men's, Housewares, and of course, Women's. I am experienced at dressing forms, merchandising tables, and changing out window displays.
Pictured to the left are Andrew, the Store Merchandiser and Samuel, the Display Artist. I have the pleasure of working with them on a daily basis to achieve in-store goals relative to display. As Merchandising Team Leader, I help with floor-sets three times a year, for Summer, Back to School and Holiday. We also have a Spring transition and constant changes happening on a daily basis to keep our store new, exciting and fresh. We change the window displays on a week to week basis, and we update our entry every Monday to drive business with hot, new selling items.
Here is a Vignette that I dressed. Our four Vignettes are one of our most important resources in driving business because it gives our customer a chance to see multiple items of clothing outfitted together, showing different colors available. Behind the three forms, are the clothing actually for retail sale, for convenient shopping.
This is our By Corpus cluster table which I outfitted on the form and layed out the relating products on the table next to it. I cut one of the blue striped By Corpus tees to give the girl a more sexy look. Urban Outfitters likes to be "ironic", rather than "cliche" by combining items that don't usually "go together," yet making it look fresh and unique. Here we see a normally preppy striped cardigan, with a cutoff tee, showing the midriff.
Here I have outfitted part of our clothing from our collaborative brand Hawks, by Geren Ford, who has come together with Urban Outfitters to express a line of clothing which we sell.
Here I have dressed a form inspired by another collaborative line, Lark & Wolff by Steven Allen.
Here is our current Men's entry table. I was inspired by the new Levi's and used them on the table, along with some summer tees and short sleeve button up striped shirts.
Here is an important housewares destination. We call this "lifestyling", where we show products as if they were in one's home. I wanted to make it look like a living room, or even a deck area.
