Discarded to Divine Discarded to Divine is part of the St. Vincent De Paul Society which collects used clothing, which are created into couture creations by designers who want to be a part of raising funds to help the poor and homeless. In this event at the De Young Museum, we helped display the garments for hundreds of guests to come in and view the clothing, talk to the designers, and enjoy the event. To the left is the group of volunteers that made it all happen! We had the pleasure of putting on such an amazing event, we couldn't have done it without Sally Rosen and Jen Shellnut! We were so excited to be part of such a fun event.
I helped display the Accessories, and Housewares items.
Initially, before the event, we submitted floorplans as a group, and evaluated them to decide how we would display over eighty garments. Here is my floorplan.
Here is my press release for the event.
Here is my submission for the Poster Design.
Jessica Wybenga and I had the pleasure of meeting and talking to Sweet P from Project Runway Season 4, who designed a gorgeous red coctail dress for the event.
Here, I am helping figure out who the winners of the Discarded to Divine Auction are!
Runway 2008: Revolution For this Fashion Show, I designed four looks inspired by Mexico. I used all recycled clothing to remake my garments into brand new, current looks.
Design Week For this event, Lindsey Simunec and I submitted our designs that we combined to make a single look for the Garden of Eden Show. Our names are on the program.
Runway 2007:Garden of Eden This sustainable event was a big success because while it only cost a few dollars, instead, viewers could donate a toy instead to get into the show which we would later donate to Toys for Tots. All of the garments for this show were made from recycled clothing. For this Show, I designed the poster and the program for this event. In addition, Lindsey Simunec and I collaborated to design one look. I designed the skirt below and she designed the top, along with another group project, the accessories were made by our team members, Melissa Simmons, Sirika Smith, Cheri Sepentay and Alejandria Sales.
